That's right... for the New Orleans pepes-- that's a picture of Cedric "The Entertainer" Butler! He came in town for Memorial Day and invited me to his friend Joey's house in Hermosa Beach for a bbq. Needless to say- it was a ton of fun and it was a great time getting to know his Cali friends! (The pic below Cedric was doing his "Carlton" dance... ha!) We hadn't seen each other since before the hurricane and because after the hurricane, since things were so crazy and he spent more time in Baton Rouge and out of the state- we never really did get to see each other. Its so nice to see a familiar face and we had a great time catching up. He is doing awesome and bounced back nicely after the storm, but it's just so crazy that we are spread out all over the country. I will post more pics from our weekend but just wanted to give my boy a shout out! Come back to visit Ced!

This is by far one of the coolest events I've been to here in LA. My good friend Mike told me about it so a few of us headed down to the Arts Walk which is right in our neighborhood, Venice Beach. They had a check in area where they had different tents to try different foods from the area (like a mini-jazz fest) and a stage where they had some local artists play.
Then they had buses that took you to different areas of the neighborhood (or you could really just walk) and they gave you a map to different local artist's homes in the area where they showed off their art- but it really ended up being more about the homes than the art. What I liked best about the event was how close and personal the artists were, talking about their art, how they got started and how they created their different pieces.
After the walk, we strolled down Abbott Kinney which is like the Cali version of Magazine Street and walked into different gallery openings. Again, we met some cool artists and the one below was a girl Joey, from the Philippines and the guy in the pic is again my friend Mike. If you haven't been to this event, its highly recommended! Great time was had by all...

Just wanted to give my props to my wonderful mom today on her special day and also my sister Rachelle .... I wish I could spend the day with both of you guys but I know you are in good hands today! Mom, thank you for everything you have done for me and I just can't tell you how much I appreciate what you do and all your love and support all these years. You are the best and have taught me so much- I really don't know what I would do without you. I know I am not there in person, but I am with you in mind and spirit. Thank you for being a great mother, a teacher and a friend. I love you always.
