I'll miss my friends at WDSU....

So, I have been really bad at blogging but I have been on the road non-stop for the last 7 weeks and have 2 more weeks of straight travel- talk about tired. I was going through all my pics (which I have been bad at posting too) and found these pics that I took when I was in New Orleans on my "last market visit" to my station there- WDSU Channel 6/NBC. I have only worked with these guys for the last year, but they really do feel like family to me.

Wendy, who is the Digital manager there, and I just clicked. I really think of her as a great friend of mine- we share running tips/stories, I can talk to her about anything and she has welcomed me and my friends into her home. Its hard to find really genuine friends and she is a diamond in the rough. Olga, who also works at WDSU and I have also gotten close and I am just really going to miss working with these guys and coming down for work. Also when I was there, it was Everitt's last day at the station- and he has been with the station forever. It was a pleasure working with him and the rest of the team- Gio, Frank, etc.... and then working again with my boy Jason who used to be my assistant when I worked at ABC26! It's a crazy, small world. Anyway- just wanted to give a shout out to you guys... I think about you often and remember that I am here if you need me! You know I will be down for personal reasons and just because you know I just can't stay away!

Happy Mardi Gras!

Happy Belated Mardi Gras!!!! Yeah, so I am a bit late posting- but thank god that Nate uploaded pics that I could use for my post. I was in New Orleans last week for a couple of reasons- 1) It was my last trip (maybe not... cross your fingers) to the station as their RSD and 2) It was Mardi Gras!!! I missed last year so it was so good to be in town and besides one night of rain, it was gorgeous weather the rest of the time! On Friday night, we went over to my friend Wendy's house and had my first piece of king cake all Mardi Gras season! And guess what? I got the baby... just my luck! It rained on Thursday night so on Friday- there were 4 parades that rolled back to back... we paraded for almost 5 hours but it was a blast! It was a long night- thankfully I got a great workout with Gewls at Salvation Studio earlier that night so I was able to hang all night. Nate was nice enough to be a gracious host and let me crash (should I even ask anymore?) and we got to spend a lot of QT together... wish I could have stayed through Mardi Gras day- but oh well! I saw so many old friends and co-workers and I even got to see Cyndy dance with the Camel Toe Steppers during the Muses parade! I also got to see Monique on float 23, even though she was flying by me but she pounded me with a ton of beads! By the time she passed, it was around 1am but the crowds were still going strong. After the parade, we continued the post-party at Nate's friend Kevin's house for a dance party but I didn't last too much longer after that. Especially after our $9 gyros that Nate bought us on the walk over to the party... we were definitely done after that.
The next two days, the weather was absolutely gorgeous and I met up with Cecilia, Helen and the rest of the Chicago crowd and we met up at Monique's grandmother's place on St. Charles and 1st for the day parades- my favorite. We even got to use Ashley's ladder and got a ton of beads- it was sooo much fun. I love the vibe and walking up and down the street and seeing friends and familiar faces along the way. I miss that about New Orleans and it was definitely a Mardi Gras I won't forget. In LA, some friends celebrated Mardi Gras on Fat Tuesday and I missed that too-- I was on my way to Phoenix where I am now.... I have so much more to blog but will check back tomorrow! Nite nite.

Wendy Visits LA

Last weekend, one of my great friends from childhood- Wendy- (we went to kindergarten together) came to visit me in LA for a while and we had a great time. Wendy had come to LA once before but it was when I first moved here and still lived with my brother. I've seen so much of Wendy this past month because we were both in Pensacola for a while over the holiday and now I get to spend more time with her less than a month later! This is the most I've seen her in a couple of years. MAYBE if she moves to California I will see her more.
Wendy and I did a lot around the Venice/Santa Monica area-- from going to my favorite Circuit Works class a couple of times on Abbott Kinney (I am addicted to that place), to getting massages and biking all around the beach and westside. Also when she was here, we had a party for Dena at Makai in Santa Monica near the pier. Funny enough, the bartender was the little brother of one of our friends from high school in Pensacola. (Crazy how many Pensacolians we have out here AND New Orleanians!). He hooked us up and we are forever grateful to him. We are going to miss Dena so much when she moves back to Seattle... especially all the boys! But she is going to be coming back often (you better Dena!) so I will not say good-bye to her just yet. The last photo is us in Korea Town at our favorite little Korean BBQ place called Su Rit Gol (I think I got that right). Thanks Eric for the tip on this place because we love it! No karayoke this time.. but we did hit the Viceroy after. Since it was "sprinkling" in LA, people freaked out and everyone stayed indoors... people out here just don't know what real rain is like!!!! Wendy, hurry up and come back out! I miss you!
