To get to your goal, know your numbers!

At the start of this journey, I did a body fat ultrasound and took my weights and measurements. My starting date was Sunday, July 22, 2018.
Weight: 127.4
Chest: 34.5"
Waist: 33"
Hips: 38"

My starting body fat percentage 22.8% and my goal at the end is 15%. That is 7.8% I have to lose and since I am giving myself 6 months- that is totally doable!

If you haven't gotten your body fat tested before or better yet-- a body fat ULTRASOUND done.. I recommend you get it so you KNOW YOUR NUMBERS. This is by far the most accurate method to test body fat as it uses ultrasound to send signals that tells us where fat meets muscle and muscle meets bone. It's right there on the scan and these scans can not be tricked-- unlike other devices that measures body fat. You are looking at my thigh scan on the left and my hip on the right... it's amazing what these scans tell us.

I also took before pictures which you saw on the last post (the one before the mammogram ultrasound post!). This is important as well because even though we look at ourselves everyday.. its hard to see these small changes happen so its better to document.

I just got certified in scanning and will be happy to scan those that are local. Regardless if its me or someone else- this is your first step to reaching your goal. Know your number.. and then set your goal.

Breast exam done!

A BIG part of this journey is getting all of my levels checked and getting an updated mammogram! Glad to say that all is well in that department! Was going to get my blood levels checked today but forgot I was supposed to fast because I am getting my cholesterol checked as well! Next week... blood will be drawn!

Project: REDEFINE 45

It's 85-ish days until I turn 45. I decided I'm on a mission to be the healthiest and fittest I have ever been in my life at the age of 45. I know that it will take more than 85 days to accomplish this... but I am giving myself about 6 months. So that in my 45th year of life- I will have reached my goal. I call this project, REDEFINE 45.

The last 4 months have been incredibly stressful and busy and although I had an amazing start to the year- the last 4 months sort of spiraled downward. Lots of traveling (which means eating like crap), we moved houses (a family of 6- including my dog Louie), my business was crazy and lots of end-of-school-year activities for all 3 kids. Even though I felt like I was getting my workouts in- the stress of all of this coupled with really bad sleepless nights has really taken a toll on my body.

 I know that as a woman in their 40s- things start to change big time. You get closer to menopause and your hormones are all out of whack much like when you were a teenager. Your metabolism slows down. You hold and store fat much easier and it's harder to lose it. Midnight cravings start to feel like they were when I was 9 months pregnant. Life, work, family and if it even exists-"social" time is harder to manage and it gets in the way of any fitness goals-- much less just one simple workout.

I know there are other women who feel the same way I do. So I decided to just do it. Try everything I can to reach my goal and document the journey along the way to 1) Remember what I did and how I did it (because yes, I do expect to reach my goal) and 2) Help anyone else out there who may be in the same boat.

First things first- it's a mindset. My mind is definitely in it 100% and I am ready to put in the work. 

Secondly- its gonna be A LOT of work. Meal prepping, workouts, scheduling, research.

Thirdly- I am all about going with the CLEANEST products I can find. I have already tried a bunch and I can tell you what is good and what is not. I want to go the natural route. NUTRITION and EXERCISE. The end. No pills, no quick diets/gimmicks, no juices, no "cleanses"-- straight up eating right and exercising. Yes- I will need to supplement- protein, pre-workout, glutamino, bone nutrient, whole food vitamins, collagen, etc... If I want to get results, help my body recover and be in the best optimal shape to reach my goals- I will need this. However- I will only use the best, cleanest products and will share what that is with all of you.

Here are some pictures of me that I took on July 23, 2018. I did a body fat scan, measurements and weight and I am getting my blood tested tomorrow to see what my levels are and will share all of that with you in another post along with my specific goals and more details.
